Dear Families of St. Matthew's,

With heavy hearts we bring you very sad news... Many of you already knew our little buddy Blaise Davis, age 7, who previously attended St. Matthew's Day Care. He was Lucy Davis' (from our Pre-K Lambs class) older brother.

Blaise was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in February 2016. Blaise fought hard and suffered much, but recovered. This past December Blaise became sick again and was diagnosed with AML, an aggressive form of leukemia, a result of the chemo he received to battle Ewing Sarcoma.

His story can be found on his GoFundMe page.

Blaise passed away on Saturday evening March 2nd, at home in his mother's arms. We are all heartbroken over the loss of this sweet boy. We apologize if over the next few weeks any of our staff seem "emotional" or "off"... there are just no words... be we are all trying hard to keep the Day Care Center as upbeat and fun as possible.

We will only address this loss with the PreK class later this week. We have purchased a few different children's stories to read to them over the upcoming weeks. These books discuss topics like the feelings we may experience when we lose someone we love, and where do they go. We wanted them to know and understand that their friend Lucy will need our love and support as she deals with the loss of her brother and best buddy Blaise.

If anyone needs information concerning the arrangements for Blaise's visitation and Mass, details can be found at Logan Funeral Home HERE.

Please keep the Davis Family in your prayers - Andrew, Annie, Lucy and Peter

In lieu of flowers, Andy and Annie have designated St. Matthew's Day Care and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP) Music Therapy Program for donations. If you choose to donate to St. Matthew's please write Blaise Davis Memorial on the check - we will mail you a receipt for your taxes.

Thank you,

Vickie Clark, Assistant Director
